Evangelical Balance Sheet book cover

Evangelical Balance Sheet: Character, Family and Business in Mid-Victorian Nova Scotia explores the important role of character ideals and evangelicalism in mid-Victorian culture in Nova Scotia. For our cover design we used an image of the family that the author studied for the book. The family photograph was then woven with an image of a Gaelic poem, written in Nova Scotia during the nineteenth century, to create the illusion of a hand-written balance sheet. Evangelical Balance Sheet is published by Wilfrid Laurier University Press.
