The makeover issue

Change happens in business on a regular basis and an organization, whether large or small, needs to reflect this in their branding. A branding solution should be flexible enough to incorporate change but sometimes the change is so drastic that a serious re-evaluation of the brand message and visual identity needs to happen. So whether you are introducing new products, focusing on new target markets or changing the scope of a book series we can help you change or update your visual identity to reflect new issues while maintaining brand recognition.

Updating a 37 year old brand – The Ontario Private Campground Association

The OPCA has been through a lot of changes recently – new staff, new city, new office and, last year, we redesigned their directory. With all these changes the OPCA decided it was time to take another look at its branding. The OPCA’s directory and website are both titled Camping in Ontario, which is more readily recognized by their members and by the public, so they have decided to operate under the banner of Camping in Ontario. They requested an updated logo that would retain the recognizable elements of their existing logo. They also wanted to reflect their wonderful tagline, “create memories … go camping”, in their new visual identity. We simplified the elements of their logo, chose two colours for printing economy and a more expressive font to reflect the emotional element of their brand. The OPCA/Camping in Ontario has helped people create camping memories since 1969 and now their updated logo better reflects the nature of their organization.

Stonegrip brochure

Stonegrip brochure

IPC has recently introduced three new decorative asphalt products to its existing roster. Ennis Paints, the manufacturer of Imprint, Stonegrip and Tyregrip, was very impressed with IPC’s branding which helped in their decision to award IPC distribution. With the addition of so many new products IPC was worried about confusing their prospects and wanted to clearly differentiate the visual identity of each product. We decided that the best solution would be to colour code the products. These colours are used in IPC’s brochures and other marketing materials to clearly differentiate the products and the colours, as the products themselves, work well together.

Innis College reunion invitation

Innis College reunion invitation

Innis College wanted a bright and cheerful invitation to announce its 2007 spring reunion. We created an original illustration and designed the postcard-sized invitation that went out to Innis’s alumni. The event was a great success with some of the college’s first graduates attending. Innis College has been part of the University of Toronto since 1964 and offers multidisciplinary cinema, environmental and urban studies.

I have been getting rave compliments about the invitation that you designed. Thanks again for your great work.
